How to redact a PDF without uploading it

- Draw black boxes over anything sensitive, or use auto-detect to find ID numbers, bank card numbers, phone numbers and emails. Names, companies and places can be found with the optional on-device AI model.
- Export. Redacted pages are rebuilt so the content underneath is deleted — not covered — and a verification report proves nothing can be copied out.
FAQ
Is drawing a black box over text enough to redact a PDF?
In most tools, no — a black rectangle drawn on top leaves the original text inside the file, and select-all + copy reveals it. Blackbar deletes the underlying text and images on redacted pages instead of just covering them.
Do my files get uploaded?
No. This site is a static page with no server that could receive files. Everything runs locally in your browser — it even works with the network unplugged.
Can it redact scanned PDFs?
Yes. Use “Scanned-page OCR detect” to find sensitive information inside scans, or draw boxes manually — exported pages contain no hidden text layer either way.
How do I know the redaction really worked?
After export, Blackbar re-opens your file and shows a report: zero extractable text on redacted pages and scrubbed metadata. You can also paste-test any PDF on the “Check my PDF” page.

常见问题
在文字上画个黑条就算脱敏了吗？
大多数工具里不算——黑色矩形只是盖在上面，原文还在文件里，全选复制就原形毕露。Blackbar 是把黑框下的文字和图像从文件里删掉，而不是盖住。
我的文件会被上传吗？
不会。本站是纯静态页面，没有能接收文件的服务器。所有处理都在你的浏览器里完成，断网也能用。
扫描件能脱敏吗？
能。用「扫描件识别（OCR）」自动找出扫描页里的敏感信息，或者手动框选——无论哪种方式，导出的页面都不含隐藏文字层。
怎么确认脱敏真的生效了？
